Heavy Rain Alert Across India: 21 States to See Rain, Strong Winds

India's Meteorological Department, known as the IMD, has issued a heavy rain alert for many parts of the country. The alert is for Saturday, September 26. Twenty-one states will receive rain, and strong winds are expected too.
Areas from Sikkim in the northeast to Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh in central India will see heavy rainfall. According to the IMD, winds could blow at speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour in some areas during this weather system.
In Rajasthan, ten districts have received a rain alert. Officials believe the effects of a cyclone may reach the state and bring rain there. A cyclone is a powerful storm that forms over the sea and can affect weather far inland.
Despite the rain warnings in many regions, other parts of India remain very hot. Five cities have recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, showing a sharp contrast in weather across the country this week.
