How We Adapt the News
Every story on this site starts as real reporting by professional news organisations — outlets such as the BBC, The Guardian, Reuters, CNN and other established sources. We are not a news agency: we are language teachers. Our job is to take the day's news and rewrite it so that English learners can actually read it.
Our leveling method
Each story is rewritten at up to three levels, and the facts never change between them — only the language does:
- Easy (CEFR A2) — 100–170 words, using roughly the 1,000 most common English words, with short sentences that carry one idea each.
- Medium (CEFR B1) — 170–300 words, a wider vocabulary and longer but still clear sentences.
- Difficult (CEFR B2) — 300–400 words at the natural pace and register of real news writing.
For every level we also prepare a vocabulary list with simple definitions, an audio narration recorded at a comfortable pace, a comprehension quiz, and discussion questions for classrooms and conversation practice.
Accuracy and review
We only include facts that appear in the original reporting — we do not add numbers, names, quotes or claims of our own. Every story is checked against its source before publishing, and where the original reporting is uncertain, our version says so too. If you ever spot an error, please contact us and we will correct it.
Why we do this
Authentic news is one of the best materials for language learning — it is current, real and worth talking about. But authentic news is written for native speakers. Our goal is to remove the language barrier while keeping the journalism honest, so that learners can stay informed and improve their English at the same time.

We respect the intellectual property of news organisations. Our stories are original texts written from the facts of published reporting — we do not republish source articles, excerpts, images or other protected material. If you are a rights holder and believe any content on this site reproduces your protected expression, please contact us with the story URL and the material concerned. We review every request promptly and will correct, amend or remove content where appropriate.
