Typhoon Doksuri Strengthens, Could Hit Parts of Japan This Week

Typhoon No. 25, a large storm, has strengthened into what Japan's weather agency classifies as a "strong" typhoon as it tracks toward the country, according to a report published on September 19, 2026.

Parts of the Kinki and Tokai regions, in western and central Japan, have already entered the storm's strong wind zone, meaning residents there may already be experiencing gusty conditions ahead of the storm's closest approach.

Meteorologist Sachiyo Domoto has reported that the typhoon could move closer to the Kanto region, home to Tokyo, around September 21 and 22.
