72 Bets Share R$300 Million Lottery Prize in Brazil

Seventy-two winning bets have divided a substantial R$300 million jackpot in the Lotofácil da Independência, a special edition of Brazil's popular Lotofácil lottery held in 2026.

The Independence-themed draw traditionally offers one of the largest prizes of the year, drawing significant public attention across the country.

Among the winners were several groups from the northeastern state of Ceará, who took part through a bolão, a collective betting arrangement in which multiple players pool resources to purchase a single, larger wager.

This approach increases the statistical odds of winning, since a bigger combined bet covers more possible number combinations.

According to reports, some participants in these Ceará-based bolões paid as much as R$2,930 for a cota, or individual share, of the group wager.

Because the total prize pool was split among all 72 winning bets, each ticket-holder received a considerable individual payout, though the exact amount per winner was not specified.

Alongside the special Independence draw, Lotofácil continues to run its regular weekly contests. The routine draw numbered 3781 was also held on Wednesday the 16th, according to official results.

Lotofácil differs from many other lottery formats because players select 15 numbers from a pool of 25, rather than choosing from a much larger range.

This structure gives participants a comparatively higher probability of matching enough numbers to secure a prize, even a modest one, which partly explains the game's enduring popularity in Brazil.

The Independence edition, however, stands out for its exceptionally large jackpot compared with standard weekly draws, and it typically coincides with celebrations marking Brazil's independence in September.

Lottery operators in Brazil have long promoted such special editions to boost public interest and ticket sales during national holidays.
