The Defensor del Pueblo is an important person in Spain. This person protects people's rights.
The Defensor del Pueblo wants to help some Spanish people. These people got Spanish nationality from the "ley de nietos". This law is for grandchildren of Spanish people.
Spain's top court said these people cannot vote now. This is called a suspension. The order came from the Supreme Court.
Now the Defensor del Pueblo wants to change this. The Defensor del Pueblo sent a request to the Constitutional Court. This request is called a recurso de amparo. It asks the court to let these people vote again.
There was also a meeting about this problem. People at the Junta Electoral talked about it. The Junta Electoral manages elections in Spain. Some people there worried about voters who live outside Spain. They worried the problem could stop many people from voting.
