Ration Card e-KYC: Complete It at Home with a Mobile App
Listen to the story
The food department has a new rule for ration cards. All card holders must do e-KYC. This means checking your identity online. You can now do it at home. You need a mobile application for this. You do not need to go to an office.
This rule is for BPL and APL card holders. BPL means people below the poverty line. APL means people above the poverty line. Every family member must do this e-KYC. It is not just for one person in the house.
The deadline is September 30. A deadline is the last date to do something. People must finish e-KYC before this date. If they do not, they may have problems with their ration card.
The app uses a fingerprint scan to check who you are. Sometimes the fingerprint scan does not work well. If this happens, people must update their Aadhaar card. Aadhaar is a special ID card in India. After updating Aadhaar, they can try the scan again.
