Food Alert: Eggs and Blueberry Jam Recalled Over Salmonella Risk
Listen to the story
There is a food alert in Italy. People found Salmonella in some eggs.
Salmonella is bad bacteria. It can make people sick.
Companies must recall 18 batches of eggs. A recall means they take the food back.
Some of the eggs are already expired. This means the date to eat them is over.
There is also an alert for blueberry jam. One batch of jam may have Salmonella too.
Health workers say: check your eggs and jam at home.
Look for the batch number on the box or jar. This number shows which food is dangerous.
If you have the bad batch, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the shop.
Doctors say Salmonella can cause stomach pain. It can also cause fever and feeling sick.
Most people get better in a few days. But some people, like children, need a doctor.
