Listen to the story (Australian accent)

Many sushi restaurants use small plastic containers for soy sauce. Some of the containers look like fish. But now, people in South Australia have to stop using them.

A man in Japan made the first plastic fish container for soy sauce. It was in 1954. He called it the “Lunch Charm.” People around the world liked them.

The new law in South Australia started on September 1. The law says shops cannot use small plastic fish containers with soy sauce. The government wants sushi shops to use bigger bottles, not small plastic containers.

The small plastic fish are used once for a very short time. Then, people throw them away. The plastic containers are sometimes trash on streets and beaches.

A scientist said the plastic fish containers can hurt animals in the sea. Sea animals think it is food. Also, the plastic is strong, so it stays in nature for a long time.

Some people think the new law is good. They want governments to make more laws about plastic trash.
