Weather Changes in Delhi-NCR, Alerts Issued for Rain
Listen to the story
Delhi-NCR has experienced a sudden shift in weather conditions, with rain beginning across the region in recent hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) initially issued a yellow alert for the area, a warning level that urges residents to remain informed and cautious about developing conditions.
The IMD subsequently upgraded the warning to an orange alert, a more serious classification indicating a higher risk of disruptive weather. According to the alert, rain accompanied by hail was expected within the following two hours.
Hail, which consists of small pellets of ice formed inside storm clouds, can pose risks to vehicles, crops and pedestrians if it falls in significant quantities.
In Noida, part of the wider NCR region, rain has also been forecast, with winds expected to blow at speeds of around 30 kilometers per hour.
The temperature in Noida during this period is expected to stand at approximately 29ยฐC, reflecting typical conditions for this time of year despite the unsettled weather.
Sudden weather changes of this kind are not unusual in the Delhi-NCR region, where shifting air patterns can quickly bring rain, wind and temperature drops even outside the main monsoon season.
Such conditions can disrupt daily routines, including road travel and outdoor work, and may also affect flight schedules at busy transport hubs in the capital.
Authorities have not provided further details on the duration of the alert, but residents have been encouraged to monitor official updates as the situation develops. The IMD typically reviews and revises alert levels as weather systems evolve, and further changes to the forecast remain possible in the coming hours.
