Typhoon Season Breaks Records: Typhoon No. 22 Forms in Japan

Typhoon No. 22, named Atau, has formed in the western Pacific, according to Japan's tenki.jp weather service, becoming the ninth typhoon to develop this month.

This pace marks the fastest monthly formation rate in eight years and the second-fastest on record, highlighting an unusually active period of tropical storm activity in the region.

Adding to the complexity, another storm system has developed near Atau, resulting in what meteorologists describe as a double typhoon situation. Two additional tropical storm seeds, informally referred to as 'double typhoon eggs,' are also forming nearby, raising the possibility of further typhoons emerging in the coming days.

A tropical storm seed represents an early-stage disturbance that may intensify into a tropical depression before potentially strengthening into a full typhoon, depending on atmospheric and oceanic conditions.
