Riyad Mahrez Leads Al Shamal to Big Win in Qatar League

Algerian international Riyad Mahrez played a key role as Al Shamal secured a commanding 5-0 victory over Al Sailiya in the Qatar Stars League, sponsored by Doha Bank.

The match, part of the competition's ninth round, saw Mahrez contribute significantly to what has been described as a memorable night for the club.

According to reports, Mahrez has already surpassed his tally from his time at Manchester City in terms of certain statistics, although a specific record held by Qatari club Al Ahli remains unbroken.

The result highlights the growing presence of high-profile international players in Qatari football, with Mahrez being one of the most recognisable names to have joined the league.

Before moving to Qatar, Mahrez enjoyed a decorated career in England, most notably with Manchester City, where he won numerous domestic and international titles.

His experience and quality have been credited with elevating the performances of Al Shamal, who delivered a dominant display against their opponents.

The five-goal margin represents one of the more emphatic results of the season so far, and reports suggest Mahrez's involvement was central to the outcome.

The Qatar Stars League continues to attract international talent, and performances such as Mahrez's are likely to draw further attention to the competition's growing profile.

While the exact details of the Al Ahli record referenced in reports were not fully specified, its continued survival despite Al Shamal's strong form suggests it remains a notable benchmark in Qatari football history.

As the season progresses, attention will likely remain on Mahrez and his influence on Al Shamal's results, as the club seeks to build on this significant win.
