LaLiga, Spain's top-tier football league, is set to introduce a range of significant changes for the 2026/27 season, with new Connected Ball technology emerging as the most closely watched development.

According to reports, LaLiga EA SPORTS will become the first national football competition in the world to roll out Connected Ball technology across all of its matches, marking a notable step in the sport's ongoing adoption of data-driven tools.

The Connected Ball system involves fitting a chip inside the match ball, allowing it to transmit real-time data on its position, speed and movement. Such information can support referees and officials in making more precise decisions during games.
