Neha Pachisia, a City Superintendent of Police (CSP) in Madhya Pradesh, has gone missing from a police training programme in Bhopal shortly after a criminal complaint was registered against her, according to reports.

Pachisia, who previously worked as an air hostess before switching careers to join the police, had been widely regarded as an example of a successful mid-career transition into public service.

Police allege that Pachisia engaged in illegal extortion, demanding money from a dumper owner, an accusation that led to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against her.

An FIR is the formal document Indian police use to officially record a complaint and initiate a criminal investigation. Once filed, it typically triggers further inquiry by law enforcement authorities.

Following the registration of the FIR, Pachisia reportedly disappeared from the training centre in Bhopal where she had been posted for a departmental course, prompting concern among officials.

In response, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh ordered her immediate suspension, a move that strips her of official duties and authority while the case is examined.

Authorities have also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the extortion allegations. As part of its work, the SIT has sealed Pachisia's office, restricting access pending further investigation.

Separately, a departmental inquiry has been launched against her by her employing authority. Unlike the criminal case, this internal process examines whether Pachisia breached professional conduct rules, independent of any court proceedings.

The case has generated significant public interest, in part due to Pachisia's unconventional career path and her prior reputation as a role model within the police force. Her sudden disappearance following the FIR has added further scrutiny to the unfolding investigation.

As of now, the whereabouts of Pachisia remain unknown, and both the criminal case and the departmental inquiry are ongoing. Authorities have not indicated when either process is expected to conclude.
