Heavy Rain Causes Flooding and Injuries in Catalonia

Torrential rainfall has struck Catalonia, Spain, with the province of Tarragona bearing the brunt of the storm.

According to reports, a total of 11 people have been injured as a result of the storm, with one victim currently in critical condition.

Among those affected was a family whose car became submerged by rising floodwaters while they were driving.

The family managed to escape through a window of the vehicle before it was completely trapped by the water.

Speaking afterward, they said they had not received any official weather warning prior to setting out on their journey.

"If we had received the alert, we wouldn't have gone anywhere," one family member said, highlighting concerns about the timeliness of emergency notifications.

Meanwhile, authorities have issued alerts for the districts, or comarcas, near the Ebro river, warning residents of the risk of further flooding as the storm continues.

The situation remains fluid, with officials closely monitoring rainfall levels and river conditions in the affected region.

Emergency services have been deployed to assist residents, assess damage, and respond to any additional incidents linked to the severe weather.

Authorities have urged the public to follow official guidance and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
