Heavy Rain Alert for Himachal, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert, warning of heavy rainfall across several regions, including Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the IMD's update, 14 states are expected to receive heavy rain within the next 12 hours, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

The department has attributed the intensified rainfall to a new low-pressure system that is becoming active in the Bay of Bengal, a key source of moisture during India's monsoon season.

Such systems typically draw in moist air from the sea, which then travels inland and triggers widespread rainfall across northern and central India.

The IMD has forecast that the current spell of heavy rain will continue for at least four more days, as the system moves and interacts with existing monsoon winds.

Authorities have urged residents in the affected states to remain cautious, citing the risk of waterlogging, disrupted transport, and possible landslides in hilly regions such as Himachal Pradesh.

In urban centers like Delhi, heavy downpours can often lead to traffic congestion and localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

The IMD has advised the public to stay updated through official bulletins, which are expected to be revised as the weather system develops further.

This latest alert comes amid an active monsoon period, during which several parts of India have already experienced above-average rainfall this season.
