Floods in Nepal Sweep Away Whole Villages

Severe flooding in Nepal has swept away entire villages, according to reports documenting the extent of the disaster. Multiple videos captured the destruction as fast-rising waters overwhelmed homes and land in affected regions.

The Trishuli River reportedly overflowed with extraordinary speed, transforming the local topography within just six hours. Settlements that had long stood along the riverbank were entirely submerged or washed away, leaving little trace of their former locations.

Nine satellite images, taken before and after the flooding, illustrate the scale of the transformation. The before-and-after comparisons show how thriving riverside communities were replaced by expanses of floodwater, underscoring how dramatically the terrain changed in a matter of hours.

The consequences of the flooding have extended beyond Nepal's borders. Authorities in the Indian states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have placed their regions on high alert, anticipating that floodwaters or heavy rainfall could soon affect these areas as well. In response, India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to assist with emergency operations, including rescue and relief work.
