Alpine Brings New F1 Car Upgrade for Gasly at Zandvoort

Alpine is preparing to introduce a significant upgrade to its Formula 1 car ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, though the update will initially be fitted to only one of the team's two cars, that of driver Pierre Gasly.

The team has described the new part as 'powerful,' hinting that it could deliver a meaningful boost to the car's performance. Alpine appears to be banking on this upgrade to help lift its results at a track known for testing car balance and downforce.

Notably, the team's other driver, Franco Colapinto, will not receive the same upgrade at Zandvoort. Instead, he has shifted his attention towards the following race, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and towards Alpine's broader plans for development across the rest of the season.

Colapinto has expressed optimism about what lies ahead, saying he remains 'excited for the future' despite missing out on this particular round of upgrades. His comments suggest confidence that Alpine intends to extend improvements to both cars in due course.

It is understood that further developments are expected for Alpine following the Zandvoort weekend, which could eventually benefit Colapinto's side of the garage as well. In Formula 1, teams frequently introduce new components on a staggered basis, often trialling them on one car before committing to a wider rollout across the lineup.

This approach allows engineers to gather data on how a new part performs under race conditions before risking both cars on an unproven design. It also lets teams manage limited production resources, since manufacturing upgraded components for two cars simultaneously can be costly and time-consuming.

For Alpine, which has faced a challenging season relative to rival constructors, any gain in performance could prove valuable in the fight for points in the remaining races. The team's willingness to prioritise Gasly's car suggests confidence that the new part will translate into tangible on-track gains.
