Due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union decided that it’s too dangerous to hold the song competition in Ukraine.

The Eurovision contest is the largest music event in the world. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said that it will be hosted in the United Kingdom on behalf of Ukraine next year for safety reasons.

Ukraine won the competition this year which means they host the following event. However, the country is fighting an invasion by Russia, so the EBU decided to relocate next year’s event.

The EBU invited the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) to host the event next year because the UK was runner-up in the contest in 2022.

Apparently, the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC) was disappointed with the EBU’s decision. However, the EBU says it’s too dangerous in Ukraine now.

The BBC has hosted the event more times than any other broadcasting company. In the coming months, a British city will be chosen to host the 2023 event. There is no official date for the event yet.

The event this year was held in Italy, where many people showed support for Ukraine. Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra won the contest with a song called Stefania that was performed in the Ukrainian language. The song combines traditional Ukrainian folk music with rap.

Eurovision started in 1965 and has always been organized by the EBU. The 2022 event had more than 180 million viewers on TV and online.
