TV Journalist Comments on What Sánchez Might Do If He Loses Election
Listen to the story
Spanish TV journalist Vicente Vallés has spoken about what he believes Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez would do if he lost a future election. Vallés said he is convinced Sánchez would accept the result.
According to Vallés, accepting an election loss is simply what happens in Western democracies. He explained that this is the normal, expected behaviour for any leader. However, he added that he does not believe losing is actually Sánchez's intention, suggesting the Prime Minister is working hard to stay in power.
At the same time, opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, head of the Popular Party (PP), is shaping his party's strategy ahead of elections scheduled for November 29. Working alongside party figures Tellado and Muñoz, Feijóo's plan reportedly focuses on two main ideas.
The first is raising concerns about possible electoral fraud, sometimes referred to informally in Spanish as a 'pucherazo'. The second is continuing to highlight alleged internal scandals within the PSOE, the Socialist party led by Sánchez, which Feijóo's camp describes using the term 'cloacas', meaning hidden or dirty dealings.
Feijóo addressed these points during a meeting of the PP's National Executive Committee. He told party members that nothing should be celebrated until the final vote has been counted, signalling caution rather than early confidence about the election outcome.
