Trump Asks UFC Boss Dana White to Be Press Secretary
Listen to the story
US President Donald Trump has asked Dana White, the head of the UFC, to become his new press secretary.
The UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Championship, is a major company that organises mixed martial arts fights around the world.
As chief executive of the UFC, White has turned the sport into a huge global business.
A press secretary's job is to speak to journalists and explain the president's actions and plans.
This person works closely with the president and speaks publicly almost every day.
White announced that he will meet with Trump on Monday to discuss this offer.
He has not yet said whether he will accept the position.
The news has surprised many people, since White has no experience working in government.
However, Trump and White have known each other for many years and are close friends.
They are often seen together at UFC events, and Trump has shown strong public support for the sport.
It is still unclear if White would leave his UFC role completely or keep some connection to the company.
More details are expected after Monday's meeting between the two men.
