Listen to the article (American accent)

The US Army has a bra called the Army Tactical Brassiere in development. It will be the first official uniform bra offered by the Army if it’s approved.

US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center, also known as DEVCOM, will present the bra designs to the Army Uniform Board for approval in the autumn of 2022.

If the Army Uniform Board approves the designs, the bra will be added to the US Army uniform.

DEVCOM surveyed hundreds of female soldiers in different jobs in the Army. It wanted to collect information about “proper fit, function, support, and performance.”

DEVCOM developed prototypes at its headquarters in Natick, Massachusetts. It also evaluated designs from other companies in the industry.

The bra is considered tactical and not just sportswear, so many tests were conducted. DEVCOM even tested the bra in fire. The results from the tests will be presented to the Army Uniform Board in the autumn.

If the bra becomes an official part of the uniform, it will be a big win for female soldiers in the US Army.
