6 People Hurt on the Last Day of Running of the Bulls

Last Thursday, bulls from Spain’s respected Miura Ranch ran in the final event of the Running of the Bulls at the San Fermin Festival this year.

After Thursday’s event, the Navarra regional government said that six people were injured during the run. At first, the Spanish Red Cross said that only two people needed medical treatment.

On that day, nobody was stabbed by bull horns. The bulls didn’t really pay attention to the runners and focused on sprinting to the bullring.

There was one incident where a runner fell down and was almost hit in the head by a bull’s horn.

The eighth, and last, run was attended by hundreds of people, but less than usual. Most of the participants were men. They ran in front of 6 bulls on an 875-meter route to the main bullring in Pamplona, Spain.

Tens of thousands of people visited the Pamplona festival this year. The festival was glorified in Ernest Hemingway’s novel “The Sun Also Rises” in 1926. The festival is also famous for its non-stop parties.

This year’s festival started on July 6th. Four people were stabbed by bull horns, but none of the injuries were serious.

In 2019, eight people were stabbed by bull horns. The festival was not held in 2020 or 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Since 1920, 16 people have died in the Pamplona bull runs. The last death was in 2009.
