Panthers Fire Defensive Coordinator After Slow Start
Listen to the story
The Carolina Panthers have announced changes to their defensive coaching staff. The team has fired defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.
A defensive coordinator is responsible for planning how the team's defense will try to stop the other team from scoring. Evero held this role for the Panthers before he was dismissed.
The decision comes after a 3-4 start to the season, meaning the Panthers have won three games and lost four so far. According to reports, multiple coaches were fired following a loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Teams in the NFL sometimes make coaching changes during the season if results are not good enough. Losing to a rival team like the Packers can add pressure on a struggling coaching staff.
It is not yet clear who will replace Evero as defensive coordinator. The Panthers have not released further details about the other coaches who were let go.
Changes like this are common in professional sports when a team's performance falls below expectations. Fans and analysts will be watching closely to see how the Panthers' defense performs under new leadership for the rest of the season.
The team is expected to announce more information about its coaching staff in the coming days.
