Nearly one million people who are registered as jobseekers with France Travail, the French national employment agency, were still not being helped at the end of July 2026, according to a report.
Fabrice Nourdin, a France Travail representative in Moselle, said the agency is currently recruiting more staff. This could be part of an effort to reach jobseekers who have not received support.
The agency is also going through a reorganisation. Under the plan, there will be less hierarchy, meaning fewer layers of management, and more front-line agents working directly with jobseekers.
However, trade unions at France Travail have criticised the plan. They say management has not given clear or enough information about how the changes will work.
