Listen to the story

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has become the most successful bowler in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC).

He achieved this record during the Test match against Bangladesh in Mackay, Australia. Starc took an incredible 5 wickets in just 3.4 overs, a very fast and impressive spell of bowling.

With this performance, Starc passed South African legend Dale Steyn to become the top wicket-taker in WTC history. This is a major milestone in his career.

The match itself was difficult for batters on both sides. Bangladesh had a very poor start, losing 6 wickets for only 35 runs.

On Day 1 of the match, conditions clearly favoured the bowlers. Only 229 runs were scored across the whole day, yet 18 wickets fell. This shows how much trouble the batters faced.

Six batsmen were dismissed for zero runs, meaning they did not score a single run before getting out. This is called a 'duck' in cricket.

Fast bowlers from both teams dominated the day, using the pitch conditions to their advantage. Their skill made scoring runs very hard for the opposing batters.

Starc's achievement highlights his long and successful career in Test cricket. He continues to be one of the most feared fast bowlers in the world, and this record adds to his impressive list of achievements in the format.
