A first edition "Star Trek" comic book from 1967 that’s in mint-condition was auctioned for a record price.

An international collectibles auctioneer in Dallas, Texas put the Star Trek comic up for sale on Nov. 3. According to Certified Guaranty Company (CGC), a company that grades the condition of comic books, the Star Trek comic sold for $46,500.

The experts at CGC gave the comic a score of NM+ 9.6. That means it’s in very good condition, with only minor defects.

According to a press release from the CGC on Nov. 11, the comic, published in 1967, was the first time Star Trek was in a comic book.

The CGC says that there are only five copies of this comic in similar condition. In 2019, one of the copies sold for the previous record of $20,400. There is also one copy that is in better condition and has a higher score from the CGC.

The actors Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner and George Takei from the 1966 Star Trek TV show are on the cover of the comic book. The TV show was on air for three seasons, until 1969.

Reportedly, 62 issues of the Star Trek comic were made over 12 years.
