First Debate Between Lula and Flávio Marked by Attacks and Bomb Scare
Listen to the story
Lula and Flávio faced each other in the first runoff debate of the election. The event took place at the Band television studio. During the debate, both candidates made strong attacks against each other.
After the debate ended, police were called to an area near the studio. They had found a suspicious package close to Flávio's car. Because of the risk, a special bomb squad was sent to examine it.
The bomb squad worked to find out whether the package was dangerous. While they checked it, police isolated the area around the car. This means they blocked it off so people could not get close.
The situation happened right after a very tense debate between the two politicians. Reports say the atmosphere during the debate was already full of tension, as both men criticized each other strongly.
This news comes from ongoing coverage of the 2026 Brazilian election, which is following the campaign closely. The runoff vote will decide who becomes the next president.
