Listen to the story

Big storms are hitting southwestern Colorado again. The storms are bringing more historic flooding. Officials have given mandatory evacuation orders. This means people must leave their homes now.

The new flooding is happening in places like Pagosa Springs and the San Luis Valley. Many people there already had floods before. Now a new storm has come before they could finish fixing their homes.

People in the area must leave for their own safety. Floodwater can be very dangerous. It can rise fast and cover roads. Local leaders are telling people to move to higher ground.

This is the second time flooding has hit the area. Many residents feel tired and worried. They are waiting for the storm to stop so they can go home again.
