Storm Hits Rome After Heatwave: Trees Fall, Firefighters Busy

Rome had very hot weather for many days. This hot weather is called afa. It means hot air that feels heavy and wet.

Then the weather changed fast. A big storm came to the city. A storm is bad weather with strong wind and rain.

The storm brought heavy rain and hail. Hail is small balls of ice that fall from the sky like rain.

Strong wind made some trees fall down. This happened in two areas of Rome. The areas are called Torpignattara and Alessandrino.

Fallen trees can be dangerous for cars and people. Workers came to check the damage. Damage means harm or broken things.

Firefighters were very busy in Rome and the area around it. Firefighters are workers who help in emergencies.

They did about 140 call-outs. A call-out is a job when workers must go help fast.

The call-outs were for fires and problems from the rain. Fires can happen when the weather is very hot and dry.

After the storm, workers started to check all the damage. They wanted to know how much the storm broke.
