Listen to the story

Francisco Martín has resigned from his job. He was the Spanish government's delegate in Madrid. A delegate is a person who works for the government in a region.

Martín worked for Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. His job was to represent the government in Madrid. He often spoke against Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the leader of Madrid.

There was a camp protest in Sol, a famous square in Madrid. People stayed there to show they disagreed with something. This happened before Martín's resignation.

Martín also did not get a place on the PSOE electoral list. PSOE is Sánchez's political party. An electoral list shows the people who can become politicians after an election.

After these two things, Martín decided to leave his job. He said: "They put sticks in our wheels." This means people stopped him from doing his work well.

Martín was known as a strong supporter of Sánchez. People called him a 'hawk' of sanchismo, the political style of Pedro Sánchez. A hawk means a very strong, tough supporter.

He often criticized Ayuso. He also said nice things about Bildu, a political party. Many people now talk about his resignation as a bad ending to his political career.
