Kenyan Court Blocks Sale of MCA's Land and Cars in Graft Case
Listen to the story
A court in Kenya has stopped a politician from selling his land and cars. The politician is a MCA from Embu. MCA means a member of the county assembly.
The EACC asked the court for this order. EACC is a Kenyan office that fights corruption. The full name is the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
The EACC says the MCA has assets worth Sh111.5 million. Assets are things a person owns, like money, land, or cars.
These assets include land and six cars. The EACC thinks the money came from graft. Graft means stealing money from the government.
The MCA asked the court to lift the order. To lift an order means to remove it. He wanted to sell his things.
The court said no. It kept the freeze on his assets. A freeze stops someone from selling or using something.
This is called a preservation order. It keeps the assets safe until the case is finished.
The case is still going on. The court will decide later if the MCA did something wrong.
