India Announces Questions for 2027 Caste Census
Listen to the story
India will have a new census in 2027. A census counts all people in a country. This census will also ask about caste. Caste is a social group in India.
The Registrar General of India shared new information. This person controls the census. The office made a new form. It is called the Household Questionnaire. A household is a home with people living in it.
This form will ask many questions. It will ask for a person's Aadhaar number. Aadhaar is a special ID number for people in India. The form will also ask for a mobile phone number. It will ask for bank account details too.
This is the second part of the caste census. The first part already started before. Officials will visit homes and ask these questions. This is called population enumeration. Enumeration means counting people one by one.
