High Court Criticises Food Safety Body Over Restaurant Licence Suspensions

The High Court is a very important court in India. It spoke strongly to a food safety body. This body is called the FDA. Tukaram Mundhe leads this body. The FDA stopped the licences of five restaurants. These restaurants are at the Mumbai Cricket Association. A licence lets a business work legally.
The judges asked the FDA a strong question. They asked, "Do you feel you are a lord?" A lord is a person with much power over others. The judges said the FDA acted in a mechanical way. Mechanical means doing something without thinking carefully.
The judges said the FDA cannot do anything it wants. They said the FDA is not above the law. After the court's strong words, the FDA changed its decision. The FDA gave back the licences to the five restaurants. Now these restaurants can work again.
