Listen to the story

There is a big storm in Spain. It is bringing heavy rain to Catalonia and Valencia. This is the second day of the storm.

Spain has two weather agencies. They are called Aemet and Meteocat. They gave a red alert for Tarragona and Castellón. A red alert means the danger is very high.

The rain is torrential. This means it falls very fast and hard. The rain does not stop. People call this kind of storm a temporal.

Because of the red alert, trains stopped running. Schools closed classes too. People stayed home. The streets became empty.

This area remembers a bad flood from before. People call it the dana. Many people in Catalonia and Valencia feel scared now. They worry the new storm could be bad like before.

Workers and officials are watching the weather closely. They want to keep people safe from floods.
