People broke things in many cities. The mayors of cities are very angry.
The mayors say the police did not protect some parts of their cities. They say these parts were left with no protection.
A group for mayors is called the association of mayors. This group asked people to meet outside town halls.
They want to show they are angry. They also want answers from the government.
Three mayors wrote about this. Their names are Emmanuel Grégoire, Benoît Payan, and Grégory Doucet.
They said whole parts of their cities had no protection on October 17.
