Listen to the story

High school students in France are protesting. This is called a mobilisation. It means many people act together for a reason.

Edouard Geffray is an important official. An official is a person with a job in government. He works on education.

Geffray said the protests show young people are thinking about politics. He called it a movement of "political awareness." This means knowing about politics.

But he also said many students missed school. He said "tens of thousands" of students did not have lessons. Tens of thousands means a very big number.

The government will send 3,000 replacements to high schools. A replacement is a person who does a job instead of another person. These replacements will teach classes.

The RN is a political party in France. RN means National Rally. They did not like the government's plan.

The RN said the plan shows "legitimation of violence." This means making violence seem okay or normal.

In Paris, students joined the protests too. One student said, "We know where we are going and what we want." This means they are sure about their goals. A goal is something you want to do.
