Austria Sends Migrants Back to Italy
Listen to the story
Austria is sending some migrants back to Italy.
These people asked for asylum in Austria. But they came to Europe through Italy first.
There is a rule in Europe called the Dublin Regulation. It says migrants must ask for asylum in the first European country they enter.
Because of this rule, Austria can send them back to Italy.
Since June 12, Austria has sent four people back to Italy.
The government calls these people "Dublin cases." This means they must go back to the first country they entered.
Austria says it will keep sending people back if the rule allows it.
Italy has not said much about this yet.
