Tom Holland says that he will take a break from social media for mental health reasons.

The star of the recent Spider-Man movies did not use his social media accounts for some weeks. However, on Sunday, he made a quick return to Instagram to announce that he deleted social media apps like Instagram and Twitter.

The 26-year-old actor posted a three-minute video explaining that social media apps were harmful to his mental health. Holland says that he starts feeling down and trapped while reading about himself.

“I have taken a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming,” was part of his message to his 67.7 million followers.

Holland, the boyfriend of his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya Stoermer Coleman, also promoted the UK-based mental health charity for teens, Stem4. He supports the charity through his organization The Brothers Trust.

He continues by saying that there is a stigma against mental health, but asking for help shouldn’t be criticized

Holland finished his video by saying that he will “disappear from Instagram again.” He also thanked his fans for their love and support.

The video received praise from other celebrities like singer Justin Bieber.
