In Delhi, Narendra Modi started his third term as the Prime Minister of India. He promised to be fair to everyone when he took his oath at a big event at the president’s house.

Modi’s party, the BJP, won the election. However, people thought their party was going to have a bigger victory. The opposition party did very well this election.

Many people came to see Modi start his third term, including leaders from nearby countries like Bangladesh and Nepal. Leaders from Pakistan and China did not come.

There were more than 2,500 police to keep everyone safe in Delhi. No planes could fly over the city during this time.

Modi is the second person in India to be the leader three times in a row. The first person was Jawaharlal Nehru.

Modi’s party needed help from two other parties, the TDP and the JD(U), to have enough people to win the election.

The opposition party, called the INDIA alliance, said the election showed that people did not like Modi’s party.

Modi thanked everyone who voted for him and said he will work hard to stop corruption and poverty. He wants to help people who do not have a lot of money and the middle class.

Some people think Modi was not nice to Muslims during the election. They also don’t like that he put people from the other party in jail. But Modi said his party believes in treating all religions the same.

The INDIA alliance said they will make sure the government follows the rules of the country.
