Sam Kerr is an Australian football* player. She will be the first woman on the global cover of Electronic Arts’ FIFA video game. FIFA 23′ will be released this year.

Kerr plays for Chelsea in the Women’s Super League. She will be on the cover of the game with Kylian Mbappe who plays for Paris St. Germain and won the world cup with France. He was also on the cover of the game the last two years.

Kerr is 28 years old and started to play professional soccer when she was 15. Last season, she was the top scorer in the league with 20 goals.

The Electronic Arts’ FIFA Twitter account recently posted the cover of FIFA 23′.

Women have been on the covers of past FIFA video games, but only regionally. FIFA 16′ was the first year that women’s teams were in the game and Alex Morgan was on the cover in the USA. In Canada, Christine Sinclair appeared on the cover. They shared their regional covers with Lionel Messi that year.

Electronic Arts’ FIFA game is one of the most successful video game franchises in the world. However, this year will be the last because FIFA (the organization) and Electronic Arts’ have ended their partnership.

Electronic Arts’ offered FIFA a lot of money to continue the partnership for an additional 8 years, but FIFA declined.
